I'm 43 years old and I'm unemployed after getting a divorce and quitting my job to attempt hiking the Appalachian Trail. I guess you could call it a midlife crisis. At any rate, I'm off the Trail now and figuring out what the next stage of my life should look like. I'm shy and socially awkward, and I've been out of the dating scene since 2003. That being said, my libido has only intensified in my middle ages and it's time to get out of self-service mode!

My Ideal Person While I don't need to rush into encounters per se, my goal is to ultimately find people I can actually meet and physically interact with. The long distance thing doesn't work for me. Sorry!

It's hard to say what the "ideal person" would be, but easygoing is a good place to start. It'd be awesome if you could find my shy awkwardness as cute, in a Michael Cera sort of way maybe, but let's not kid ourselves, no? Being accepting of my awkward nature, that would probably help quite a bit!

Dry, dark or otherwise offbeat sense of humor is always a big plus for me.

Geeky is good, but not a requirement. It's a good icebreaker, at the very least.
